ALL IN ONE CELL
The entry of ARTIMPIANTI into the Indian market clarified that each customer has a specific production requirement.
These requirements may depend on the type of product to be produced, the production technology and the annual production of products.
In the specific case of an important Indian producer of aluminium castings the request was to encapsulate in a single cell the entire production process of an aluminium cast, from casting to pre-finish. At the exit of the cell the product is ready for machining.
We devised a circular cell where a single central robot completely manipulates the product, from casting to unload.
The process is complete: automatic core setting, casting, solidification in the mold, extraction of the cast from the mold, cast cooling, decoring on vibrating machine, riser cutting in disc saw, deburring, cast sanding, points marking and unloading onto a conveyor.
This is a cell designed for the specific products of the customer. They are large and complex products with very long solidification times. This means that only one die-casting machine can be used with production of 10 castings/hour.
Previously the customer performed all the operations manually. This involved handling of the casting several times with the possibility of damaging the component. The final quality was terrible. Now the entire process is performed in one single area without human manipulation. The customer decided to apply this cell concept to all of the components produced with gravity casting. We are now installing the sixth line for this customer!
